Why Networking

Why Business Networking

Why business networking can grow your business to new levels when you really put in the effort.

I was always looking for ways to meet new people through a popular network like MeetUp. If you haven’t tried it, you should find some local meetings in your area and see how they get together and meet new people. Several ones I have gone to recently are hikes, cash flow games, business networking, music and more. There are tons of categories to find your interest.

One particular meetup, Katy Premier Networking, was found through my mentor, Lawrence Tam, speaking. He introduced me to the leaders of the group and told me to watch out, and sure enough, I did! That first day I left with a single rose and a blanket as a door prize! That is why most love coming is for the amazing door prizes given. Coming to the group has given me new business and friendships that will last a lifetime.

The reason why this group is successful because it does meet weekly. I have been to most that meet monthly and they have a harder time growing the group. To really be successful in networking is to connect with at least three to five people a week between the meetings. Set your own number goals, yet at first, getting a chance to meet one before the meeting and one after will set you up for success. Make enough time to come early and stay a little after it ends to collect other’s contact information to create another touchpoint that they can remember.

What doesn’t work is getting their business card and adding to your email follow up series without getting introductory email permission. Be aware of your first impression and make it memorable and lasting to want them to refer you and continue to get to know you. Remember ways to keep integrity and allow people to find ways to trust you and your work.

I would like to introduce you to several members from the Katy Premier Networking group that would like to also share their experience with networking and how it has helped them grow their business.

First, I would like to introduce you to Markham Rollins. He is a jeweler and professional networker. He gives cash for gold, has a coin of the month club and personalizes coins as well. Great gift items! Plus will give appraisals for your jewelry as well. Listen to what he has to say about networking:

Why are you networking? With Joyce Eisenberg:

I am networking for many reasons.
1 – Because I love to meet & get to know new people.
2 – Because I love to work with the same people over
& over again & to build work as well as personal relationships
& friendships.
3 – It has always proven effective for my business if I keep
networking. I always get referrals & I always give lots of referrals
and I always have fun doing it. Being around lots of people
energizes me =)

What have you learned from this group?
I am a lifelong learner; I love to learn.
I am learning how to face my fear of holding the microphone
& getting up in front of a large group & be able to speak
& effectively give my elevator pitch or tell quick stories
about me & my business.
I am also learning how to be part of a group that is specifically
set out each week to build relationships & to help each other.
In fact, I go out of my way to refer my KPN friends on a daily basis.
I am really enjoying the camaraderie & friendships that I am
building being a part of the KPN family.

Why do you feel business networking is helping your business grow?
Real Estate & being a Realtor is a marathon for sure. I don’t expect
to get instant business, but I do feel there are lots of seeds being
planted & lots of future business coming my way from being part of
KPN especially since I have 30+ yrs of experience as a Realtor
and as an investor & I am diversified in how I’m able to help anyone
with their Real Estate needs no matter how challenging they may be.

Comments

  1. Business networking is a lot like “farming”, in the sense your cultivating relationships from a long term perspective. It’s not “hunting” down customers with a card and pitch.

  2. Building your connections will provide you with an invaluable opportunity to best prepare for your career goals. It is important to remember that networking is a mutually beneficial process. You never know when your skills and resources can prove to be beneficial to others in your network. I’m very blessed to get the opportunity to grow and learn from you all!

  3. Great work Alicia and all contributors. Build relationships with networking and help others succeed! That’s what I think it is all about. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know everyone.
